Motility Software Solutions Discloses Data Security Incident

The Reynolds and Reynolds Company today announced that subsidiary Motility Software Solutions, a solutions provider for specialty dealerships, experienced a data security incident. Upon identification of suspicious activity on its network on August 19th, Motility took the impacted server offline to isolate the incident, investigate the cause, and conduct remediation activities.
Motility has engaged cybersecurity experts and informed law enforcement authorities about the incident. Reynolds’ systems and network is separate from Motility’s network and was not affected by the incident.
Motility customer interruption to the company’s software was limited. The investigation, which is ongoing, found that personally identifiable information (PII), including names, birthdate, drivers license numbers, and social security numbers of approximately 760,000 consumers were accessed. Motility is notifying impacted consumers and providing support, including credit monitoring services.
The safety and security of customer and consumer data is of utmost priority and importance to Motility and Reynolds. Motility has added additional tools and redundant third-party monitoring for suspicious activity, and is reviewing additional cybersecurity practice measures.
