Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be an intern at Reynolds? Well, I’m taking you behind the scenes of a day filled with innovation, professional development, and the occasional game of cornhole.
7:40 a.m. My day begins when I arrive at the office and head to the cafeteria to grab my complimentary breakfast – it’s a lucky day if the spicy chicken biscuit is on the menu. Pro tip: never skip Reynolds’ breakfast.
As I settle into my cubicle, I clock in and dive into my inbox. I take a few minutes to organize my desktop, review my calendar, and, of course, check the menu to see what’s in store for lunch!
8 a.m. With my newly acquired Reynolds notebook, I map out my day: meetings, tasks, intern events, and classes. It’s one of my favorite ways to stay organized, and there’s something satisfying about physically crossing items off my list!
Then, I log onto HubSpot Academy (a resource for marketing education) and chip away at the HubSpot Marketing Software Certification course before heading off to my next stop: class.
9 a.m. Starting the day with some education from Reynolds’
Internal Training Department. Today’s topic: Managing Outlook. As it turns out, there’s an etiquette to scheduling meetings and so many email tricks I’ve never seen before.
10 a.m. Next up, meetings! I have a one-on-one with my mentors where we talk through social media calendars, current projects, and analytics. This is a valuable, low-stakes time for me to ask questions and request feedback on Canva designs or caption drafts.
Then, I attend meet and greets with associates from across the department – arguably one of the coolest parts of this internship! Because of my manager’s encouragement to speak to other teams and leadership, I’ve learned so much about different marketing roles and can now say “hello” to the faces I see in the halls.
12 p.m. Lunch time! Beyond the complimentary meals offered, lunch offers a valuable chance to build relationships and engage with the team beyond my desk.
After we enjoy lunch together, we take a quick walk to get our bodies moving. If the weather is nice, we loop around the building to soak in some Vitamin D.
1 p.m. Back at my desk, I dive into all things social media. Whether I’m writing captions, brainstorming post ideas, or sourcing images for next month’s calendar, I’m locked in. One of my favorite projects this summer is working on the social media posts for the
Reynolds and Reynolds Careers site platforms. This is a great opportunity to hone my graphic design skills and get to know the company better.
Finally, I check my to-do list and make sure I’ve completed all that I’ve set out to do for the day before heading to one of our many intern events.
3:30 p.m. We don’t always get to end the day with a game of cornhole, but today we did! The event gave me a chance to bond with fellow interns, chat with marketing leaders, and live out that “work hard, play hard” mentality.
5 p.m. I clock out, pack up my things, and walk out with my team. And that’s a day in my life!
Every day in the office brings new chances to challenge myself, learn, and build connections, and as an intern, I get to experience it all!
