Attorneys General Sue Dealers for Millions: Are You at Risk?
Friday, March 23 at 8:00 AM PST
Saturday, March 24 at 10:30 AM PST
The most likely people to investigate and sue a dealer are the state attorneys general. Their mandate is to protect the public from certain deceptive trade practices. What are they investigating? How are they doing it? What is your risk as a dealer? This workshop will identify:
- Key infractions of compliance laws and regulations.
- Discuss ways to ensure dealerships are following these laws.
- Help dealers determine the appropriate course of action should they find themselves targeted by the attorney general.
With the proper steps, you can ensure your dealership will avoid an attorney general knocking on your door.
Terry O’Loughlin is the director of Compliance for Reynolds Document Services with The Reynolds and Reynolds Company. In this role, he is responsible for monitoring and helping ensure the accuracy of Reynolds’ documents used by automobile dealerships, with a major focus in the sales and F&I areas.
Prior to joining Reynolds in 2006, he was employed by the Office of the Attorney General, State of Florida, from 1990, in the Economic Crimes Section. For most of those years, he was involved in the investigation and prosecution of automobile dealers, manufacturers, and finance and leasing companies.
He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and received graduate degrees from the University of Dayton. O’Loughlin is admitted to both the Pennsylvania and Florida Bar Associations.
