System Tips You Can Use
Do you charge the same labor rates for all your services? If you do, you might be missing out on easy revenue. ERA
® offers several service pricing options that can help you almost instantly add dollars directly to your bottom line.
Over the next few months, we'll explore a few of these options, starting with Grid Pricing. Getting your pricing structure right is key in maximizing your revenue. With a little bit of experimentation, you can find the sweet spot for pricing in your market.
Typically, the more difficult jobs are the ones that take the longest. This makes time a key variable for a pricing grid. Simple linear grids help you price by time and are easy to set up in ERA. You can turn the grid pricing on and off whenever you want, so experiment a day or two to see how you can be most profitable.
To enable grid pricing:
- Set up the grid in the Grid Pricing screen (3626).
- Turn on the grid by going to Grid Pricing in Dealer Setup (3071), line 51.
If you want to apply a grid or change one for a specific job:
- Go to the R/O Close Out screen (3651).
- Type "GP" at the "Labor Rate" prompt.
If you have Service Price Guides (SPG), grid pricing is even more powerful, because you can apply your grids on your SPG estimates.
To do so, go to the SPG Labor Rate Specifications screen (3763). From here you can apply grids to:
- Specific models (such as hybrids or high-performance cars).
- Specialized services (such as heavy engine repair).
Small, focused changes to your pricing can have a big impact on your bottom line. Don't be afraid to experiment and see what works.
