Reynolds and Reynolds Company Foundation Extends Scholarship Support with Wright State University
Foundation pledges additional $400,000 to WSU students entering College of Engineering and Computer Science
DAYTON, Ohio – Nov. 19, 2013 – The Reynolds and Reynolds Company Foundation announced today it has extended its support of providing students in Wright State University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science with scholarships as part of the Reynolds and Reynolds Leadership Scholars program.
The foundation has pledged $400,000 in scholarship money over five years to eight incoming freshmen a year. The $2,500 scholarship offer for each student is renewable for three years provided they meet certain academic requirements. The current agreement expires in 2018.
“Our commitment to honor scholarships is a centerpiece of our involvement with Wright State University,” said Willie Daughters, senior vice president at Reynolds and a member of the Reynolds Foundation’s board of trustees. “The reason is simple: We believe these scholarships are the best way to have a direct impact on the lives of young men and women, on our communities, and on the university’s ambition to attract a pool of highly talented students.”
The foundation has committed $740,000 toward scholarships for Wright State students in engineering and computer science since the program began in 2009 with a gift of $100,000. The support was first extended in 2011 with Reynolds increasing its gift to $240,000. In total, 74 students will have benefitted from the program when the current agreement is completed.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Reynolds and Reynolds Company Foundation for their ongoing support of scholarships at Wright State University. As one of the oldest corporate headquarters in the Dayton region, they have been a valued partner to Wright State for many years,” said Rebecca Cole, vice president for advancement at Wright State University and president of the Wright State University Foundation.
“Reynolds and Reynolds’ commitment to educating the next generation of engineers and computer scientists should be applauded. They are helping us attract the best and brightest students to Wright State, where they are trained for jobs in our region and state.”
