I am a Quartermaster 1st Lieutenant in the Texas Army National Guard. I had been told when I was hired that Reynolds was a “military-friendly” company. What I didn’t know, however, was the personal interest that my team, my supervisor, and the management (all the way up to our Vice President) would take in making sure that my family and I were doing all right while I met my military responsibilities.
During my deployment to Afghanistan from April 2011 to January 2012, they sent me care packages and a birthday card. My team also visited my wife and son for my son’s first birthday, since I couldn’t be there. My Vice President talked to me personally to welcome me back. My supervisor threw my first “Welcome Back” get-together when I got back to the States.
When I returned in January, it was as if I never left—I instantly felt like one of the team again. There has never been any employer before Reynolds that would take a personal stake in my life outside of work. I’m not sure there is any other place like it.

As an Electronics Technician in the Navy, I developed a skill set that included basic electronics and communication equipment. I also got an understanding about how to troubleshoot a problem, which I use every day. That is what I do here at Reynolds. I manage a Technical Support department that handles issues on customer equipment, including printers, networks, phone systems, and docuPAD.

As a member of an Air Force flight crew, I had to be able to multi-task effectively and organize which tasks took priority. If I hadn’t learned to organize myself effectively I wouldn’t be able to do my Marketing Analyst job nearly as well. In my line of work with marketing and advertising, we need to be able to effectively communicate with customers and produce very detail-oriented work. The perfection-base requirements of the Air Force makes me even more attentive to these facets of the job.

I was in the United States Air Force for 20 years, and retired in 1994 as a MSgt. I had extensive training and experience in electronics and computer technology. I have been able to apply those skills to my present job as a Field Engineer and have made this my second career.
